This miniature Cuirass
is a copy of one of the many French armours captured by English
troops in 1627. Much of this captured armour
was later used by the English during the English civil war, and
tradition has it that the English made helmets especially for them.
Being a ‘boy-prince’ armour, the helmet features broader
cheek-pieces with elaborate pierced decoration. Otherwise this
is a standard three bar English pot helmet. The armour has been
ground and polished white throughout, and is sold complete with
stand, and measures 16.5” from the skirt to top of helmet,
which has a 16” internal circumference.
